The town of
Beamsville is part of
Lincoln, a largely
rural community of nearly 21,400 people created by combining several
small towns and townships-including Beamsville, Vineland and Jordan.
Beamsville is situated between
Lake Ontario and the
Niagara Escarpment
and is part of the
Niagara Region. The
Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, is the
dominant feature, dividing the town into two areas. Below the
escarpment, the area's fertile soil and
moderate climate provide the
ideal setting for Niagara's world famous tender fruitlands and wine
industry. Above the escarpment, the land is predominately used for
for a variety of agricultural purposes and provides picturesque
beauty. The escarpment (colloquially known as 'the mountain') is home
to a section of the Bruce Trail. Beamsville Weather
Station is a non-commercial, privately owned and operated weather
station and weather information site. Its purpose is to provide our
region with local weather observations along with other publicly
available weather information.
Beamsville Weather Station is
powered by a
Davis Wireless Vantage Pro2 Plus
weather station and is updated and maintained using
Ambient Weather's
Virtual
Weather Station software, Brian Hamilton's
Weather Display software, and
Astrogenic's
SkyMet
software. Lightning strikes are detected by a Boltek
StormTracker
lightning detector and processed using
Astrogenic's
NexStorm software. Radar images are displayed using Gibson Ridge Software, LLC's GRLevel3 radar viewer. The Beamsville Weather Station also uses SoftWX's VirtualVP,
making it possible to operate up to 4 weather software programs simultaneously
using the single serial link to our Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus console.
